Once again, EDPMA is opening up its committee workshops to all Summit registrants, both members and nonmembers. Sunday’s workshops are a great way to learn what EDPMA is working on and why you should join the association. Attendees will hear from committee members and outside speakers on important issues facing the business of emergency medicine.
The Federal Health Policy Committee will discuss federal issues such as the federal minimum payment standard for out-of-network emergency care, value-based payment under Medicare, healthcare reform, Medicaid, potential revaluation of emergency medicine codes, and more.
The State Regulatory & Insurance Committee will focus on state-level activity such as legislation limiting balance billing and out-of-network reimbursement, Medicaid Managed Care policies that may violate the prudent layperson standard, and Medicaid waivers.
The Quality, Coding & Documentation Committee will address topics such as bad payer policies that result in inappropriate denials and down coding and may violate the prudent layperson standard, coding regulations, and more.
The Provider Enrollment Committee will discuss issues such as best practices when working with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), revalidations, denials due to taxonomy, and prescribing authority during provider enrollment with Medicaid.
Many attendees find these informal workshops to be a great way to learn from experts and peers on the issues of the day, get to know leaders in the industry, and more. The workshops are an integral part of the Summit. On Wednesday morning, we will circle back to many of these issues discussed in committee because Wednesday morning sessions will focus on bad payer behavior. Don’t miss out! Make sure your travel plans allow you to attend on both Sunday and Wednesday.
